Adriatic Sailing Weekend 21st-23rd August 2026

On Friday I caught an early S-Bahn to Grafing and the train to Freilassung, where Martin & Klaus picked me up. We arrived at Punta Daro Marina, near Bibione at 12:30, and began making minor repairs to the boat.Matthias arrived early evening. A thunderstorm was brewing, so we decided not to take the boat out on Friday, settling for a few drinks and a nice meal at a nearby sea food restaurant once the thunderstorm had passed.

On Saturday we completed the repairs, and finally set off just before midday: lovely sunny weather but little wind, so we motored across to Novigrad on the Istrian peninsula /Croatia), arriving early evening, in time for an aperitif before headng into the town to find a bar showing the Bayern-Dormund Super Cup.

On Sunday there was promising wind, so after an early breakfast we set sail along the coastline to catch the wind flowing down from the mountains. At the end of the Savudrija peninsula we headed across the Bay of Trieste back towards Bibione. The wind stiffened, pushing us along at almost 10 knots, tipping the boat to almost 45°, and causing everything in the cabin which wasn’t fxed down to slide around. The foresail was wound in because the gusting wind was causing too much listing, and we could still make good speed without it.

We arrived back at Punta Daro Marina at about 14:00. After tidying up and eating a pizza, we headed home.
